My love for streetwear is no secret. I love athletic textiles, bright colors, and an oversized fit. When I discovered emerging Los Angeles-based designer Daniel Patrick, I knew I wanted to get my hands on some pieces. Worn by celebrities like J. Cole, Big Sean, and Teyana Taylor, Patrick is becoming a streetwear fave for young, urban Hollywood and beyond.
Los Angeles Style
Handmade in LA from start to finish with materials sourced from within the city, Daniel Patrick is the epitome of Los Angeles style. Launched in early 2012, over the years Patrick’s line has gained attention from stylists, celeb clients, and fashion media alike because of its great quality and creative designs.
With such an athletic aesthetic, it’s no surprise to learn that Patrick himself is a former rugby player, fusing his love of sports with his love of style. In addition to LA, he also cites NYC, hip hop, and desert hikes among his top inspirations that shape his collections.
While Daniel Patrick offers a women’s line with more fitted pieces like leggings and cropped tops designed specifically for the female form, I personally gravitate to the men’s line more. I love the shapes, the motifs, and the strong use of color. The hoodies and bombers are #CozyGirl heaven.
An oversized men’s tee makes a great minidress paired with thigh high boots. The volume of the parachute pants on a small frame can be balanced with a sports bra. All-in-all I really enjoyed styling this line. It’s fun, youthful, and effortlessly cool, just like the city of LA itself.
