5 Swimwear Brands to Make a Splash in at Art Basel

Suns out, buns out! Today marks Day 2 of Art Basel in Miami Beach and from what I’ve seen so far, I’m super jealous I’m not there, LOL. Most everyone who’s anyone in art, fashion, music, and culture is down in the 305 right now taking in the visual feast the city has to offer. Spanning 267 galleries, veterans and emerging talents in modern and contemporary art are showcasing their best sculptures, films, paintings, installations, and more. In addition to all of that, the city’s usually popping nightlife scene is heading into overdrive with the influx of A-list celebs that always come through for the festivities.

In honor is this awesome event running from December 3rd-6th I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite swimwear brands that if I were there, I would love to be wearing. In no particular order, these 5 brands embody the fun and adventurous attitude of Art Basel and I hope that by checking them out, you too get a little taste of what’s probably going down under the hot Miami sun. Slap on some SPF and get ready to sizzle…

Andrea Iyamah

Based in Hamilton, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto, Iyamah just debuted her Spring/Summer 2016 at Lagos Fashion Week. Worn by celebs like Angela Simmons and Adrienne Bailon, this line is all about bold patterns and equally body cuts.

Minimale Animale

LA-based Minimale Animale is a surfer girl’s dream. Many of their separates are great for mixing and matching so you’ll always come off looking carefree and cool.

Reese

Designer Sherise Cromwell is as stunning as her pieces. Now based in LA, Cromwell was born and raised in Toronto. The most bad ass of the bunch, her latest collection is dark, sexy, and not for the shy.

Mara Hoffman

Featured in Cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and more, Hoffman is known for her unique prints. The brand first appeared at New York Fashion Week in 2008 and has since grown to include ready-to-wear, bridal, and activewear.

Don’t Blow The Illusion

Designer Robin Waters’ passion for photography makes her swimwear feel like more than just a brand. Through her artwork and creative vision, the Toronto native builds a world around her pieces for customers to get lost in.

Who’s your favorite? I like them all for different reasons so it’d be hard for me to pick just one. Next year I really hope to attend Art Basel and fingers crossed, I’ll be bringing one of these designers with me. To learn more about Art Basel Miami Beach, click here.

I live in Michigan so I won’t see a bathing suite fire a while but that Hoffman line is hot!

You should check out more of her stuff if you haven’t yet. My collage is using her most recent designs but her Mako 2015 collection is good too.
